Some stories are built in boardrooms. Others are built in survival.
For Elizabeth Meigs — Certified Trauma Informed Practitioner, speaker, and founder of Elizabeth Inspires — her business was born from a journey that began long before 2023, the year she officially launched. It began more than 25 years ago, at just 14 years old, when a devastating car accident left her fighting for her life with a traumatic brain injury and less than a 25% chance of survival. Doctors prepared her family for the worst.
But by the grace of God, she survived.
What followed was a long, grueling road of relearning — relearning how to function, how to cope, how to move forward. At the time, she didn’t know she was experiencing post-traumatic stress. She only knew she felt lost. The dreams she once chased felt gone. The girl she used to be felt like she had died in that accident.
Until one day, through tears and heartbreak, she cried out to God, “Why?”
In that moment, she says she was overwhelmed with comfort, peace, and love stronger than anything she had ever known. And she felt Him say, “I have a plan for you. You can’t stop. You have to keep going.”
That moment changed everything.
It was no longer about what happened to her. It became about who she was called to serve.
From Rehab Floors to Restored Lives
For more than 13 years, Elizabeth worked as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant across subacute rehab units, acute care, home health, and outpatient settings. She gravitated toward patients who felt hopeless — the ones who needed light in the darkest seasons of their lives.
In 2015, she made a leap of faith that would shape her next chapter. She moved from Southeast Kansas to Waco, Texas — just her and her dog — trusting that God was guiding her steps. She returned to working in subacute rehabilitation, continuing to serve those rebuilding their lives after injury and trauma.
Every step of the past 25 years, she says, has been walking by faith, not by sight.
In 2023, that calling became Elizabeth Inspires.
Healing Is a Skill — Not a Personality Trait.
Elizabeth’s mission is clear: to help those who feel stuck — especially those suffering from post-traumatic stress — release what’s holding them back so they can gain confidence, clarity, and courage to reclaim their power and pursue their purpose.
At the heart of her work is H.O.P.E. — Healing that Opens Pathways to Empowerment.
She wants people to understand something powerful: resilience isn’t something you’re born with. It’s something you learn. Healing isn’t reserved for the naturally strong or optimistic. It’s built through structure, repetition, guidance, and truth.
In an industry often filled with hype and quick fixes, Elizabeth focuses on rebuilding from the inside out — mind, body, and spirit. Her frameworks are rooted in biblical truth and supported by neuroscience. She teaches people how to regulate their nervous system, renew their mind, and anchor their identity in something stronger than circumstances.
As she puts it, “If strength were automatic, burnout wouldn’t be so common — and healing wouldn’t require intention.”
Serving Those Who Have Served
Elizabeth has a special heart for veterans.
She understands what it feels like to carry silent battles — to appear functional on the outside while struggling within. Many veterans have sacrificed more than most will ever see, and while they deserve healing, they often don’t know where to begin.
Serving them isn’t just part of her business. It’s personal. It’s her way of honoring their service and ensuring they don’t have to carry the weight alone.
Her dream is to speak to groups of veterans and others suffering from post-traumatic stress, equipping them with proven frameworks that help them regain their lives and reclaim their power. She is building a supportive community where people can rediscover who they were created to be before the world told them who they should be.
Impacting Waco, One Restored Life at a Time
Elizabeth lives in the China Spring area and considers “local” to mean relationship, responsibility, and presence. To her, local is about knowing people by name, walking alongside them in real life, and building something that lasts.
Her hope for Waco is bold: to help end silent suffering. To build strong, grounded leaders who heal, grow, and then give back. Because when individuals heal, families strengthen. And when leaders rise, communities change.
That ripple effect starts with one restored life.
The Woman Behind the Mission
Outside of her work, Elizabeth is happiest near the water. She grew up kayaking, fishing, and spending time at the lake or river — and jokes that as a little girl she may have been part fish.
She loves concerts, especially 90s country and Christian music, and you might find her at The Backyard Bar Stage & Grill enjoying live music with friends. didn’t wake up resilient. She rebuilt it. Through faith. Through repetition. Through rebuilding her life piece by piece.
She believes no one is broken beyond repair. No one is meant to carry life alone. Healing is possible — even after years of struggle.
And sometimes, the most powerful thing someone can offer isn’t advice.
It’s belief.
Elizabeth Meigs believes in people — even when they’ve stopped believing in themselves. And in Waco, that belief is changing lives.
