n 2024, HomeTown Coop Designs was born out of something simple and beautiful — a mom creating special items for her own family. What started as handmade pieces for her kids quickly turned into something more when someone complimented one of her creations and asked, “Can you make me one too?”
nd just like that, a spark turned into a small business rooted in heart, hustle, and hometown pride.
Based in Lorena, TX, the woman behind HomeTown Coop Designs didn’t step into this journey because of a grand career plan. She stepped into it because she wanted to provide a little extra for her family — and because she realized there was a need for affordable, cute holiday and everyday shirts and gifts that felt personal.
Sometimes the best businesses start not with a strategy — but with a compliment and a leap of faith.
The Heart Behind the Designs
HomeTown Coop Designs isn’t just about shirts or gifts. It’s about the heart and patience behind every piece.
One thing she wishes more people understood? How much dedication it takes to bring someone else’s idea to life.
Every design carries hours of thought, time, and care. Every last-minute school function shirt, every holiday surprise, every personalized gift comes from someone who understands how busy life gets — especially for parents. She loves being the person who can step in and help when things slip through the cracks.
Because sometimes the most meaningful items aren’t the ones planned months in advance. They’re the ones that save the day.
Her mission is simple but powerful:
To continuously improve herself and the products she offers — building something she can be proud of while striving toward future goals.
When Business Becomes a Blessing
Perhaps the most meaningful part of her journey is how she’s used her business to serve others.
Over the years, she’s organized and created custom t-shirt fundraisers for families facing unimaginable challenges — including cancer diagnoses. Personalized designs were created to help ease financial burdens and bring encouragement during treatments.
Her heart for this work runs deep. She lost her mother to cancer in 2009, and that loss fuels her desire to step in and help when she can.
Being able to use her business to lift other families up? That’s more than meaningful. That’s purpose.
Looking Ahead
For the future, she dreams of growing HomeTown Coop Designs into something she can continue to be proud of — building on what she’s already created and expanding with confidence.
In a time when our economy feels heavy and small businesses bear its weight daily, stories like this remind us why shopping local matters.
When you support HomeTown Coop Designs, you’re not just buying a shirt.
You’re supporting a Lorena family. You’re encouraging a dream. You’re investing in someone who pours heart into every order.
And around here, that’s what The Vibe is all about. 💛
Life Outside the Shop
Behind HomeTown Coop Designs is a strong, supportive family. She and her husband Cody spend most weekends at Heart of Texas Speedway, cheering him on at dirt track races. Their children, Kayden (a senior this year!) and Misty (a sophomore), keep life full and busy. Her dad, David, her sister Tamara — who owns The Cozy Sign Co. — her in-laws, and her mentor Rachel L. all play important roles in encouraging her along the way.
And then there’s Trigger, her chocolate Lab, who holds a very special place in her heart. When she’s not designing or at the racetrack, you’ll likely find her on the porch with a good book, soaking in quiet moments — something many of us in this season of life can deeply appreciate. She also enjoys grabbing a bite at Tia Juanita's, another reminder of how connected her life and business are to the Central Texas community.
Serving Community Like It’s Family
When she says she loves serving her community, she means it. “Local” isn’t just a buzzword to her. It means home.
It means getting to know her customers by name.
It means quick turnaround times because she knows you’re juggling a million things.
It means building relationships, not just sales.
She hopes her business inspires others in the Waco and Lorena area to take that step toward something meaningful. Her belief is simple and strong:
No dream is too big.
And if you’ve ever stood on the edge of an idea wondering if you should try — maybe this is your sign.
