Homes, Heart and Honest - 2026 Spring Edition

If you’ve ever scrolled real estate listings “just for fun,” walked through open houses without any intention of buying, or studied floor plans like they were blueprints for your future — you’d get along well with Jessica Hurst.

Jessica has been a Realtor with Greater Waco Realty since 2018, but her love for houses started long before real estate became her career. She and her husband used to spend weekends touring open houses, flipping homes, managing a long-term rental, and even running an Airbnb. Real estate wasn’t just interesting to her — it was part of her everyday life.

What made it stick, though, wasn’t just the houses. It was the people.

Jessica genuinely enjoys getting to know others — their stories, their seasons of life, their dreams for what comes next. Real estate felt like a natural fit because it allowed her to combine both passions: homes and relationships.

Before real estate, Jessica’s world looked very different. Her background is in education. She earned a degree in Sociology with a minor in Christian Studies, completed her alternative certification, and taught at both middle and high school levels. She coached. She later taught Kindergarten. If you ask her, she’ll tell you she’s worn a lot of hats.

She loved teaching, but when she and her husband had their first child, she felt called to be home more. As their family grew — now blessed with four precious kiddos — she began looking for something that would allow her to contribute financially while still being present.

That’s when real estate became more than a hobby.

A conversation with a friend about getting licensed together turned into a leap of faith. It aligned perfectly with her interests, her strengths, and the season of life her family was in. And since 2018, it’s been a blessing.

essica will tell you her mission is simple: serve people well.

She’s a Christian, and that foundation shapes how she runs her business. One piece of advice from her broker has stayed with her for years: “I hope there are people in Heaven one day because of the way we run our business.” That perspective has guided her ever since. For Jessica, real estate isn’t just about contracts and closings — it’s about integrity, kindness, and honoring God in how she treats others.

She also hopes to gently shift the stereotype some people carry about Realtors. You don’t need a bulldog who’s aggressive or cutthroat to get good results. In her experience, the best outcomes often come through collaboration, mutual respect, and clear communication.

She’s not a pushover — she advocates strongly for her clients — but she believes you can be both firm and kind. And she’s quick to say that while some transactions may not require a Realtor, many people don’t want the stress of navigating complex negotiations alone. She loves stepping in to answer questions, calm nerves, and make what feels overwhelming feel manageable.

What makes it meaningful for her isn’t the paycheck. It’s the relationships.

Closing day is always bittersweet. She’s thrilled for her clients, but she genuinely misses the regular conversations and connection that develop along the way. She especially loves serving families — helping them see potential in a “diamond in the rough” or finding a home ready for their next chapter.

She understands that process personally. Jessica and her husband have renovated homes while living in them with young kids. They’ve fixed up properties, made memories, and eventually moved on to new seasons. She knows what it feels like to build a life inside four walls — not just purchase a property.

Jessica lives in Lorena with her husband of almost 17 years — her best friend — and their four children. They homeschool, which means her days are full in the best way. Her favorite titles aren’t Realtor or business owner. They’re “wife” and “mom.”
